The Roland FD-8 Compact Hi-Hat Controller is a reliable and well-made product that is compatible with Roland's TD-Series modules, SPD-S, SPD-20, and HandSonic 15. It is a great upgrade from the pedal that comes with the TD-1 kit, and works perfectly with the Roland Octapad and the Roland TD-50. However, it is not compatible with Yamaha's DTX 502 module or Alesis drum kits. The pedal has been known to misfire or not work with some kits. Overall, the FD-8 is a good hi-hat pedal alternative, especially for those who do not have enough space for a traditional hi-hat stand.
